Kekkai are special abilities inherent to ninja families. These abilities allow them to perform feats beyond human capabilities. These abilities do not appear automatically in the bloodline and must be awakened to be used. Information about Kekkai is heavily guarded by the families, since they're the secret weapon of ninjas speaking of their existence and result in being disowned by the family.[1]
Ninpo[]
Ninpo are a combination of the martial arts techniques and kekkai abilities to create immensely powerful new ninja arts. These Ninja arts are honed over years and passed on through generations. [2]
Primal Kekkai[]
Primal Kekkai (血界還源) occurs when a kekkai user takes a pill. This dramatically increases the power of the kekkai, as well as affecting the users appearance. Due to the pills being a prototype, they give side effects like a painful headache.[3]
Plot[]
Kekkai were first mentioned by Tobi whilst fighting Yodaka, mocking him for not having one and saying he'd never lose to him as a result.[4]
It was next mentioned by Suzume in her fight against Yodaka. It was here where she explained what they were, implying that Hachikuma and Tobi have one. Number Nine mentions how secret information about them is supposed to be, but Suzume willingly gave information about them just so she could brag about them.[1]
