Umineko (ウミネコ) is a supporting character from Shinobi Undercover series.
He's a ninja with the mission of protecting Aoi Mukai along with Hibari and Yodaka. His fake name is Taki Utsumi (
Etymology[]
Codename[]
- His codename Umineko refers to the black-tailed gulls whose Japanese name is ウミネコ.
- The Gull refers to said animal.
Fake Name[]
- Umineko's fake surname is Utsumi comes from the characters (
内 , utsu) means "inside/between/among" and (海 , mi) means "sea/ocean".
Appearance[]
Umineko has fair skin is a little taller than average. He has messy hair with the top half being beige and the bottom being black. His eyes are light brown.
Personality[]
Umineko takes on the typical friendly and cheerful personality of a teenage boy when undercover as Taki. His real personality is a lot more serious and intimidating.[2] He looks up to Yodaka, and despite his serious expression, he is becomes extremely excited when praised by him. He also struggles to fully believe in himself even when Number Nine had full trust in him.
Background[]
Umineko is a Ninja who was born without a Kekkai and is therefore seen as the failure of his prestigious family, the Kamuro Family. Despite that he wants to become a strong ninja like his father and has undergone hard training even if it hurt him like when he joined the advanced students for their training. He wanted to become strong as fast as possible. Despite his hard training he never got the respect from other people as seen when strangers talked about who would become the new head of the Kamuro Family they instantly decided it would be better to choose someone outside their family due to Umineko not having a Kekkai.
Plot[]
Umineko is first seen at the start of school, being noticed by Yodaka alongside Hibari, being noted to have scary eyes. He's later seen talking to Aoi in class, asking about if she's hurt after her fall and if they should go to the nurses office. This is where Number Nine tells Yodaka about him and how he's supposed to become Aoi's boyfriend within the next 3 years. When the class is called to the entrance ceremony, he heads out with the rest of the guys in the class. He's next seen after the ceremony, being informed about Yodaka taking out an assassin, which he is impressed by. At the end of school, he watches Aoi reject Hibari and ask Yodaka to be her friend.[3]
Umineko joins the students going karaoke, he's able to blend in with them with no issue and helps pick up for Yodaka's inept conversation skills. When an enemy truck passes by, he alongside Hibari and Yodaka notice it. In the karaoke bar, he talks to Yodaka about noticing the enemy and knocks over a drink to give Yodaka an excuse to leave. His personality changes to become more serious when he talks to him. Later, when an enemy is about to attack Aoi and Yodaka from behind, he distracts Aoi by talking about the spill whilst Yodaka takes out the enemy.[2]

Infiltration: Umineko is an expert in infiltration, about to hide his true self and take on a new persona to blend in seamlessly.[2]

- Yodaka: Umineko is a big fan of Yodaka and wants to be on his level when it comes to skills. Umineko often gets excited about every compliment Yodaka gives him. He also has a lot of trust in Yodaka as seen when Umineko himself was tasked with stalling Mukudori while Yodaka had to face Hayabusa.
Family[]
- Mukudori: Umineko deeply cares for his sister despite her trying to talk him down. He has a lot of respect for her and always used to go to her as a child for support, like asking for a hand. Mukudori feels the same in a way by trying to push Umineko away from the Ninja side and have him live a normal life in which he doesn't end up like their deceased father.
